Empire Minis Team:
Our youngest team will introduce your little one to a fantastic cheer experience. No experience required!! Boys and Girls age 3-6 will learn the basics of cheer - team work, stunting, tumbling, movement, jumps, strength & flexibility. Athletes will have a routine to perform at our Spring Send Off on April 16. More details to come. They will also have the opportunity to perform at at least one local event.
Empire offers Prep Teams as defined by the Open Championship Series. This team is an invite only opportunity for high performance athletes to try competitive cheer. They will learn the fundamentals of stunting, jumps, cheer dance, tumbling, and what it takes to perform an all-star cheer routine. Athletes are required to have tumbling at a level that fits his/her team.
As a member of a competitive cheerleading team, you must be committed to both the program and to every other member of your team. This is a sport where an absence of one athlete can affect the entire team, whether at a practice or a performance. 100% participation is necessary to become successful. The Competition season begins in November and ends in late April. Prep competitions are held locally except our last comp of the season.
Flyers are chosen based on flexibility, strength, body control and performance presence. Flyers and all stunt group positions are decided by coaches. Cheer is a team sport and requires all athletes to perform the role they have been selected for within the routine. This team will be selective about the roles each athlete takes on in the routine.
Each team competes a 2:00 minute choreographed routine that meets the Open Championship series scoresheet. Athletes will focus on stunting, tumbling, dance, and jumps to maximize our performance.
